LOOKING FORWARD As the weather improves and Olympics get closer, the school is preparing for an exciting few months ahead. Coming up soon is the YEAR 2 MUSIC FESTIVAL which is sure to be a great occasion for children and parents. We are offering year 2 parents/carers the opportunity to come along on Wednesday, 21st March at 9.10 am when all year 2 children will give an exclusive performance of the Music Festival songs they have learned. It's going to be a special occasion so parents/carers should let us know if you want to attend . You're certainly very welcome - but we would like to get an idea of numbers. 'ON THE MOVE' That's the topic for this half term period. We want to know how children travel to school, when they go on holidays or shopping. Trains, aeroplanes, cars, buses, taxis - even scooters and skates. What about horse-riding. Children are invited to bring any photographs or drawings and postcards to share the experience with their friends. Has anyone been on a camel! CLASS E HAD A GREAT DAY OUT IN LONDON. Everyone had an exciting time and walked through the narrow streets of the City of London and saw the street where Samuel Pepys lived and the church where he is buried in Seething Lane. The pencils and sketchbooks came out in the church of St Margaret Pattens. Then it was off to Pudding Lane, the Monument, down to the River Thames and the Tower of London before catching the train home to Leigh-on-Sea. Visit to LONDON to learn about the Great Fire of 1666. This is going to be an exciting week for Year Two children. Special visits to London are taking place over four days - Tuesday 18th October to Friday, 21st October - when supervised groups of pupils will get a chance to learn more about the fire and why it started. Each trip will involve a train journey to Fenchurch Street and then a walk through some of the narrow streets and alley ways that were familiar to Londoners in the 17th century. The walk includes visits to the Monument, the church of St Margaret Patten, the site of the bakery shop where the fire started and a walk back along the river to the Tower before catching the train home
